Oh, Lord... do they live in Japan? I think it would be weird, there, but in another country people might just assume those are normal Japanese names if they don't know the language... either way it's super cheesy!

Yes, this is in Japan. There has been a rise in little girls called "Kokoa" here, but they are still known as "kira kira names" (shiny names). You are right, though, people outside of Japan might not catch on to Cake if it is pronounced kay-kee.
