Well I love both names, so you are only going to hear good things from me! Ruby was my fave name for years and when I was around 15 years old I chose that name for a future DD. I have a niece with this name though, so sadly will never get the chance to use it. It's still one of my faves, I just adore it. It's timeless and pretty, yet spunky and fun at the same time. Lily is also timeless and pretty, but doesn't share the same spunk as Ruby. Lily is very nice though and I can see it working for a female of any age. You can't go wrong with either imo.
