Sudden
I can't be positive, but I was watching What Would You Do? today and noticed the host said a woman was named Sudden. He could have been pronouncing Sutton in an odd way, though, but I've not heard that on a woman, either. What do you think?

I'd hope it's not Sudden or Sutton. I could probably tolerate Sutton on a guy but I just don't think it works for a girl.

There's an actress named Sutton Foster that I've been aware of for about ten years now, so it's not impossible for me to imagine. Ugly, though.

Sutton is mildly better than Sudden.

Sudden is awful as a name as as for Sutton: I don't necessarily love it but I do prefer it on a male. Then again, there are a slew of people out there with bizarre and strange names. Maybe her name was "Sudden"

Sutton was the name of one of the female main characters on the TV show 'The Lying Game'. So it could have been that?

Sutton Foster is a Broadway actress that was on Bunheads (Amy Sherman Palladino show that didn't make it) and Younger, which is starting its second season on TVLand. It's not one I expect to become popular. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Foster

Sudden sounds sodden.

I would rather be Sudden than Sutton, as silly as it may be. I think Sutton (and Sullivan; I kind of lump the two together in my mind) is so sadly ugly. To branch out into the general topic of word names, I recently added Reason to my list. I'm not into word names too much but I do have a small number that I really like.

I was listening to NPR and there was a woman named Sutton. It was so bizarre - even on a man it would be weird.

Awful. It sounds like a description of the birth or something. Or like they didn't know they were expecting.Sutton isn't nice, but I hope it was the woman's name.

I hope you've misheard, or the host has mispronounced, a foreign name. Sudden would be awful.
