Bailey, Abigail and Maggie
Which of those three names do you prefer? Middle name options would be Antonia and Jemma. Another question: What is a feminine version of James? Besides Jamie. TIA

Abigail all the way. Jemma sounds better than Antonia.I don't like any female variant of James, not even Jamie and that's used for males where I live anyway.

Abigail, definitely.I would go with Abigail Antonia.

I much prefer Bailey. It's almost strictly a boys' name here in Aus so it's a novelty for me to hear it on a girl. I like Abbey but not Abigail. And I find Maggie just awful. Bailey Jemma would be nice.Jaye / Jaya / Jayla

I like Abigail the best of the names you have listed, Maggie is nice as a nickname but too cutesy for a full name. Abigail Antonia is nice. Are you looking for names that are related to James or just sound similar? The closest related name is Jamesina, but that's kind of hideous. Jacoba or Jacqueline are nicer, but non-name nerds are unlikely to name see the connection. Jane and Jamila both sound rather similar.

I love Maggie - but Abigail also bears extensive depth & nostalgia which I guess would also be heritage.

Out of the three I prefer Abigail though I like all of them as names. Prefer Maggie as a nickname to Margaret though.Abigail Jemma works for me :)Feminine version of James (most from the James page on this site): Jaye, Jayla, Jaylen, Jaylene, Jamesina

Bailey and Maggie remind me of dogs. I have known a lot of dogs named Bailey and Maggie (also Tess). Between the three I prefer Abigail. I don't love it but it's alright, and I do like Abby as a nickname. As for feminine versions of James: Jamesetta, and Jamisa maybe at a stretch. I do know a Jamesetta; prior to meeting her the name had sounded clunky and forced to me, but once I got used to it in real life it was just another name. I knew a Jamisa and a Jamiesa, and while I don't know if they were named with James in mind, it's a similar sound.ETA: I'm surprised, I thought Jamesetta was in the database. I would rather that over Jamesina, if I had to chose.

Maggie. I'd go with Maggie Antonia. That would make a very good combo.A feminine form of James could be Jaye. That's the only one I remotely like.

Maggie Antonia. If I wanted to name a daughter after a James, I'd just use James as the MN. The female forms are awful unless you turn to feminizations of Jacob and Jacques. Jemma could be viewed as the feminine form of Jem, I suppose, but the J just looks so wrong to me.

Jemma looks like an unsuccessful attempt to feminise James. Anyway, Antonia has the proper spelling and looks and sounds beautiful.Maggie is great as a nn for Margaret; the nice thing about Margaret is that if Maggie ever becomes over-used or unusable (a serial killer called Maggie Yoursurname who lives round the corner), there are plenty more nn options and the very acceptable full name itself to choose from.Bailey sounds like an unfinished bay leaf and means a bailiff, so no. And Abigail has been megapopular for too long. The world doesn't need extra Abigails - it's got plenty. So, my advice would be Margaret Antonia. Beautiful, familiar without being trendy, full of good nn possibilities. As for James, it originated from the Latin form of Jacob, so Jacqueline is a fem form of James! As is Jacoba, for those who like it.

Maggie is definitely my fave of the three. Maggie Jemma would be a really cute combo. Jem is listed as a variant of James, so you kind of have it covered already.

Abigail, probably with Antonia even though I'm not a huge fan on alliteration. Bailey Antonia sounds nice, too, I'm just not crazy about Bailey.Names like Shaina and Shawna could be feminine versions of James (eg Seamus and "Shamus" are Gaelic versions of James). Actually, might be feminine Johns, now that I think about it. Also Giachetta, Jemma, Jem, and Jacqueline.

Of those three names, I prefer Maggie as a nn for Margaret. In the absence of that, I prefer Abigail since Abby is cute.I love both Antonia and Jemma but would go with Antonia.Re: a female version of James, in Medieval times, Jem was a nn for James so by extension, Jemma might be.

Jacqueline is the feminine form of Jacques, the French version of James.Bailey is very much a dog name to me. Maggie too, to a lesser extent, but it also sounds like a servant's name. I don't really like Abigail, but it's the best of the bunch.

Abigail hands down.
Wouldn't Jaqueline be technically a female form of James?

Abigail, definitely.

I actually think Jemma could work for James. James --> Jem --> Jemma makes sense to me.I like Maggie best of the names you have listed. It's sweet, but sturdy, and while it's a nickname it doesn't seem casual. Bailey is one I've always personally liked, but seems common for dogs and doesn't sound great with your mn options. Abigail is nice enough, but I don't super like it. For combos I preferMaggie Antonia
Abigail Jemma
Bailey Jemma

Abigail Jemma
I put James into the translator and got Jacqueline if that helps.

Maggie Antonia.
Abigail Antonia makes a more intriguing combo than Abigail Jemma.
Jemma is spelled wrong IMO but I would use Gemma as a middle, tooJamesina
Jayma
Making some up -
Jamesine (jaym-ZEEN)
Jamesin (JAYM-zin or JAYM-uh-sin, like Thomas / Thomasin?)
Jamis (like Francis / Frances?)
I think would give a girl the middle name James itself if I needed to honor a James.

Maggie. I think it's bright and spunky.
I would go with Margaret Antonia and call her Maggie. And Jamesina is a feminine form of James, but I never liked it.

Maggie AntoniaAs for the James feminine form how about jamesina?
