I'm not sure I'd ever use it, but I'd be thrilled to meet someone named Glory. It has a great sound and would make a nice nn for Gloria, Gloriana, etc.Of your combos, Miriam Glory most resonates with me.

I didn't know Gloriana was a name; that's kinda sweet. I don't think I like it as much as plain Glory, but I do expect that it will grow on me.

I like this in and of itself, or, to pair with other names. I myself would use the longer formal version of Gloria to allow for the pet name of Glory for those endeared with closer intimacies of affection. Glorianna / Gloryanne (Glory Ann / Glory-Anna--spell or dispell as you will) are other versions of the same, and if this name is of little use now-a-days, such a scarcity would increase its value.

I do prefer your suggestions to plain Gloria, so I'll keep it in mind. :)

It doesn't please me at all. The meaning is just too intrusive. And it seems unnecessary to go the Glory route when Gloria exists and is quite acceptable, if hubristic.

I like Glory, and on a real kid too. Glory Alanis is cool.

I love Glory but I also wouldn't use it in real life. Battle Hymn of the Republic is one of my favorite songs... It's such a nice idea but it does remind me of Glory Holes, that's all that holds me back! I wanted to use it with Virginia for Revolutionary War vibes, but that also doesn't make sense with my reasoning because that song is from the Civil War. That would make a confederate! ;)I love Helena Glory from your list. Hermia Glory would be cool too. Lysandra Glory. Melaina Glory.

I like the sound and vibe of Melaina Glory; thanks!

Well, I wouldn't try to talk you out of it; I occasionally suggest Glory as a middle name, though I don't see any reason why it can't work as a first name as well. The word has broader meaning and association than just its use in religious context and I would not assume a parent who chose it necessarily did so for religious reasons. Personally, it brings a good bit of nature imagery to mind...sunrise, sun reflected in dew drops, Morning Glory flowers, etc. I also think it has a bit of spunk to it. Of your list, I best like the feel/flow of...Adelaide Glory - plays up the spunkiness
Helena Glory - seeing her reading a book in a field of flowers
Emilia Glory
Katarina Glory
Miriam Glory - this one does feel religious in tone, no problem for me
Vivian Glory - this also plays up the nature feel for meI'm not familiar with your style, but this is GP so perhaps you might like...Ailsa Glory
Athena Glory
Audra Glory
Clementine Glory
Corinne Glory
Danica Glory
Elspeth Glory
Millicent Glory - I like this reversed, too
Nina Glory
Rosamund Glory
Sigrid Glory
Tamsin Glory
Wilhelmina Glory
Winifred Glory
