Zella
I've liked this name for a while but a few months back I used for a character in a novel I'm writing and now it's really, really grown on me. Like, I just love it. It's got a spunky old-timey feel to it I find really charming.
Anyway, though I don't post often on this board anymore I do lurk a bit and I rarely see Zella mentioned so I wanted to get all of your opinions on it! What do think of it and what would you think if you met a little girl with the name?
My PNL = http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/37275

Bottom: Randall & Jacoba (main) / Dinadan & Melpomene (GP) / Corvo & Deva (top25)

I enjoy this name. I see the same liveliness that you do, as well as the retro charm. Zella is like a favorite old aunt who acts like a teenager.
In any case, it's also a simple name that is both easy to read and pronounce, plus it carries the sought-after Z. It packs a lot of plusses into such a short and sweet name.
I would love to meet one, and would have even considered using the name myself had I not already chosen.

I kinda like it. I never thought much about it and thought it seemed too old-fashioned (it's my great-grandmother's name). But as names with that sort of sound have gotten more popular I've begun to see some of its appeal. I have a friend with a daughter Zella, she's under a year old.
Zella is wonderful. It has Germanic practicality, but with an exotic flair. It reminds me of Margarethe Zelle, a.k.a Mata Hari.
Zella is a very intriguing name. Love it. :0)
