Edna is a family name, or was when it was mildly fashionable. Nobody has used it since. I really put it on a par with horrors like Beulah!
Edith ... whiney and unattractive. Where I live, it's a grandmother in a cartoon strip who says embarrassing things very loudly and is seldom without her gin and tonic. Oddly, the only Edith people I've known at all well were both alcoholics - I know the name isn't to blame, but the association is strong! I knew a fairly pleasant German Editha (eh-DI-ta) but it wouldn't work in English.
Enid is OK. I don't like it enough to use, but I'd like to meet a young one.
