Martha
Martha is super-resonating with me today. It's in my top ten. Your thoughts? I like Martha Jane a lot. I think it's fresher than Matilda, too, even though I adore both. Martha is also my grandmother Charlotte's mother's and great-grandmother's name. And it's CUTE.Martha Caroline is also really nice, but more serious.Do you like Martha Jane or Martha Caroline better? Any others in this style?

I've always liked Martha. It gives me a sweet, cozy feeling. It sounds like coming home after a long winter day.I prefer Martha Jane of your two combos, but both are nice.

Martha has a sturdy yet slightly frumpy vibe for me. It's classic and underused. I've only known two. I went to high school with one. She went by Mop for some reason. The other Martha was the dd of a co-worker and is about 28 years old now. That's still fairly young to be named Martha. I think of it as mainly a name for someone much older.Between Martha Jane and Martha Caroline, Martha Caroline all the way. OTOH, MJ is mighty cute ...

I also love the name Martha and the combo Martha Jane is gorgeous. Matilda is great too imo.

I like Martha, there's just something so sweet, chipper, and innocent about it.I prefer Martha Jane to Martha Caroline. Martha Jane has a nice touch of vintage spunk.I have Martha "Marty" Avalon on my old name list, back when I thought Avalon was the bee's knees but afraid that it might be tacky/trendy in the first spot. I think Martha Nikolett or Martha Evelina could be nice. I also really like Martha Rose, despite Rose being sort of "filler."

It is cute! I have been thinking about it lately also.I really like Martha Jane, though Martha Caroline is nice. I'm less inclined to like Caroline in general so it's not quite as exciting to me. I think Martha Eleanor would be pretty, too. Side note: I've met at least two Marthas that I can recall. One went by her full name, the other by Matty. I found it sounded very sweet in "real life."

If your going for a family name go with Martha Charlotte. It's in that style and sounds really pretty

It's top 100 here and rising. I'd use it: there were several in my family and I've always liked it. Martha Jane is nice, but Martha Caroline might just win slightly on flow.
Family Marthas: Martha Kate, Martha Eliza & Martha Adeline

Martha is sweet. I've been into -th- sounds in the middle of names lately, and obviously Martha fits the bill. I think I still prefer Marta.Martha Jane is fine, but I'd suggest Martha Jean for extra spunk. Martha Caroline seems a bit too heavy IMO.Martha Emily or Martha Emmeline?

It's my puppy's name! I thought it would be kind of hilarious for a dog. But on a person, I do like it. It's a bit harsh, but the right person could pull it off. It's very... I dunno, serious and upperclass to me. I like both Martha Caroline and Martha Jane. Actually, I know sisters named Martha and Jane (both in their thirties now). Their parents sure were ahead of their time.

I thought your dog's name is Zoe?

Zoe's the family dog. Martha's my new puppy.

The song "Martha My Dear" by The Beatles was inspired by Paul McCartney's sheepdog, so I actually think of a dog first when hearing Martha. :)

There is a kids' TV series and a book series about a talking dog named Martha, who becomes able to talk when she eats alphabet soup.

I used to dislike this name, but it's grown on me. It's kind of frumpy, but in an endearing way, like a little old granny. I prefer Martha Jane.

Martha has a slightly dumpy vibe, but still I like it for its soft sound and eighteenth-century charm. Prefer Martha Caroline.

I actually really like Martha. It's one of those old gems to me... a balancing act between granny and adorable. Kind've like meeting a tiny-tot Agnes or Betty. Anyway, lately I find my go-to middle name to be Gail / Gale / Gayle. Martha Gayle is so retro chic to me that I think it works.
Martha Zenaide is also unexpectedly lively I think. Martha Jane is simple and sweet, and it works because it is so solid and direct. However, I find Martha Caroline a bit more interesting. It makes me think that something like Martha Josephine would work too.

I do like Martha Zenaide, unexpectedly.

I guess it could be cute in an old-fashioned way, but it doesn't sound fresh at all to me...I associate it with middle-aged homemakers, probably because of Martha Stewart.I also think of the Mary & Martha story from the Bible: Martha could never relax.

RELAX, Martha! Just because your brother stopped breathing three days ago doesn't mean he's DEAD!

I heart Martha Stewart.

Me too. :)I just get the impression she's always busy, which reinforces the image of the name I've already got because of the bible character...and I've never met a Martha in real life. When I try to imagine it for a kid, I think of a little girl in a polka dot dress for some reason, and polka dots aren't my style either.

I like it a lot, it's just outside my current top 10. Martha Jane and Martha Caroline are both great, but I'd be more likely to use Martha Caroline. Martha Lucy is my favourite combo for it.
