What sort of person do I picture? An empty headed bimbo.
Do I prefer a different spelling? Anything that doesn't end in "-leigh." Are there too many variants? One is too many for me, but yes, there are too many ways to spell this name because it is so new. (Just one more advantage to a traditional name.)
Will it age well? Definitely not. Katherine, nn Kay, would though.
