Justine
A friend/former colleague named her baby girl this. I rather like it it's original, but I happened to mention it to my mother who finds int very unattractive, possibly because of the diminutive-sounding ending.Thoughts on Justine?- Formerly known as Murasaki-Some thoughts and recipeshttp://italianlaowaigirl.blogspot.com/http://lagerusalemmecucinata.blogspot.com/

I agree with your mother. It's rather unattractive in my opinion.

I can't resist -ine!

I like it quite a lot. I went to school with one.

The only Justine I know is a snob, so it comes across as somewhat cold and condescending to me...but I don't think the sound itself is unappealing (I tend to like names with the -ine ending, so I would probably like it if it were more popular).

Justine is a great name! Not too common, sounds a bit like "Justice" but isn't so on-the-nose, the -ine ending is nice... I can't think of any real objections to it.

I like it. I am in favor of bringing back the feminizations like Pauline, Justine, Geraldine, Bernadette, Thomasina, etc. Justine is kind've quirky and classy at the same time. I know my parents would hate the name, because it probably seems dated to their experiences, but I find it charming.

At first it seems very sophisticated and glamorous, but the more I think of it the colder and more unfriendly it seems. I feel like it ought to have Mistress in front of it and she should be working as a high-end dominatrix.
I think Justina is cute, sort of, but the one Justina I know of, when her mother said she had one daughter, Justina, I at first thought she was saying "Just Tina" like she only had one daughter.

I've always liked the quirkiness of Justine. It's refreshing and I've never known a soul with the name.

How nice! I've always been puzzled at how Justin became so megapopular and Justine never did - I much prefer the female version.Diminutive-sounding ending? No more so than Christine.

My feelings exactly.
