I adore Bernadette, love Sylvia, really like Clea, and appreciate Salem.

Salem = a talking cat. I like the idea actually, but it will never be a bad muppet cat to me.

I like Sylvia and Bernadette. Salem, too, but I don't see the point of using Sam with it.

I'm undecided about Clea; it's new and strange to me. Some things it brings to mind: Cleo, Thea, clay, cleaver.

I like Sylvia =) I prefer Cleo to Clea. I don't like Bernadette at all. Salem "Sam" is kinda cute but NMS.

Salem makes me think of the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The nickname Sam with it is nice.

I love Bernadette, and Berdie is such a great nickname! Salem is hardcore... maybe a little too hardcore for a little kid. Silvia is really pretty-- it was the name of my piano teacher's daughter. I don't really like Clea... the "Cl" sound just doesn't sound nice to me.

Bernadette is super cute. I love the "dette" part so much, it's so happy polka-doted. Bertie is a sweet lil nickname for it, too. Both Sylvia and Clea are beautiful nymphlike names, I enjoy them. Salem is also really resonating with me lately. I don't know if it's because autumn is in the air, or because I'm dating a boy from Massachusetts, or what. I see it as a feminine name (Salem "Sally" is a GP of mine)...though I don't see why it couldn't be male. Your Sam idea makes more sense than my Sally.

Sylvia sounds too old-fashioned for my taste.
Clea makes me think of "cleavage" (I know, I'm a weirdo).
Bernadette is lovely.
Salem makes me think of witch trials or of Sabrina the Teenage Witch's cat.
