I see Maia and Maya as two different names - Maia as in the Roman goddess, and Maya as either an Indian or a Jewish name. However, I pronounce the two the same way, MY-yah.

I personally prefer Maya out of the two because the spelling looks nicer, even though I do love the muthological association of Maia.
