Re: Vintage American Names

I like Agnes very much, and I love Winifred. As far as others that catch my eye...
Della - is kind of cute. Someone I was acquainted with in college named her daughter Josephine Della. Personally, I think Della Josephine flows better, but then, Josephine really is great and has several nice nicknames...and I'm rambling.
Florence - has been growing on me some, but I don't think I really care for it when I say it aloud. I also think I am heavily influenced by listening to Florence and the Machine. Haha.
Harriet - I have an affection for if only because I adore Hattie. All the same, my affection doesn't go so far as me considering Harriet as a potential name for a potential child.
Nell - is very sweet. I wouldn't use it as a given name, but it's a nice nickname.
Ramona - is cute and ages well, but it feels too Spanish/Italian for me to ever use. I realize it's not even listed as Italian, but I watched due South growing up (who am I kidding? I still watch it--I own the DVDs!), and Ramona Milano (Italian descent, I believe) played Francesca Vecchio, member of an Italian American family. Also, the "moan" part seems difficult to have during middle school. But I do really like the name.

Current favorites:
Callum / Tristram / Benedict / Hamish
Cordelia / Winifred / Edith / Margaret
