I love Micah!! It has recently jumped to number 2 on my list =) I think it's normal without being common, and it's refreshing next to Michael. As for misspelling it, I can imagine... I've seen people misspell or mispronounce a lot of names (I also work in child care). That wouldn't stop me though, anyone with a bit of common sense will figure it out pretty quickly.

I like just Micah as I find Micaiah a bit too long (and easier to misspell) but Micah would work as a nn for it.
