Isobel is my favorite version of this name. I love the look of it. So clean and pretty. Isabelle has the extra frill, yes, but it's just not as attractive as Isobel to me.
I would use it if you love it. It's popular because it is gorgeous in sound, and Isobel is probably the least popular right now (at least where I am).
Isobel Mabel is a bit repetitive in sound for me, but Isobel Lucy is cute, despite the juxtaposed Ls.
What about Isobel Joy?
