Lara, Iris, Georgia and Jessa
Replies
I love Lara! I've loved it ever since I first discovered Tomb Raider as a kid, and fought dangerous mythical monsters as Lara Croft. It's short and sweet, yet sophisticated. (And the Dr. Zhivago association doesn't hurt, either.)
Iris is also lovely. However, I've never been fond of any of the "Georg-" names, male or female - I just find the sound... hard. Like a punch. And Jessa seems incomplete when I read it, I keep thinking it's missing an 'i' and a 'c'.

Lara- I don't like the sound of it, I never have and I can't imagine I ever will
Iris- I really like, it's cute but could also age well
Georgia nn Georgie- I'm not a Georgia/ Georgie fan at all
Jessa- My name is Jessica-Kate, usually I go by Jess or Jessie but my dad calls my Jessa. I really like it. As a full name, it's less nicknamey than Jessie but it gets rid of the "sick" part of Jessica.

Lara is alright, though not a name I would use myself. We have friends who have a little girl with this name and apparently my MIL loves this name and would have loved to use it, had she ever had a DD.
Iris is pretty, it instantly makes me think of the flowers. But then I think of the eye connection and that kind of ruins it a little bit for me. Still, it is a lovely name.
Georgia is great, I love it. I always think of the classic Ray Charles song, "Georgia on my mind", which I think is a beautiful song. As for the nn Georgie, I really don't think Georgia needs a nn at all. I see Georgia and Georgie as two separate names anyway, well they are here in Australia. Georgie is cute as a nn for Georgiana though, because that name is so much longer.
Jessa is nice, though I prefer Jessica and actually prefer Jessie even more.

Lara- I much prefer Laura or Lauren, as they look and sound more complete.
Iris- I like Iris, it's a fun and underused retro name. I like all the associations as well (the flower, rainbows, people's eyes.)
Georgia nn Georgie- Georgia is great, very sunny and summery to me. Georgie is okay, fine as a nickname.
Jessa- I'm on the fence with it. It's a nice enough name, but doesn't stand out or sparkle for me.

Iris: Okay but kind of drab and sour.
Lara: Annoying. Never sure how it is supposed to be pronounced. Prefer Laura.
Georgia: Annoying. Georgie is babyish.
Jessa: Like baby-talk for a kid who can't say Jessica.

I like them all, except nn Georgie which is OK but nms.
Iris is a favorite at the moment... I've met a couple of youths named it.
I dislike George but Georgia is very pretty and romantic seeming. Prefer nn Jojo or Gigi
Lara - breezier than Laura, like it a lot, not a fave.
Jessa - pretty name. A little soft for my taste maybe. I prefer Jessica or Jessa as a nick for Jessica.

Aww these are all springtime darlings. All of these names are very purple to me.
Lara is very sweet. I like it pronounced like LA-ra "first syllable sounds like "cat") as opposed to LAH-ra (first syllable sounds like "job"). It's a simple, eastern European gem that goes a long way.
Iris used to be one of my top names. Pretty eyes, pretty flowers, rainbows! I still think it's darling, but I think I just became less attracted to the sound over time.
Georgia is fabulous, and doesn't need the nickname Georgie. Same amount of syllables, I don't see the point! Anyway, I think Georgia is great because it gives me aggressive southern vibes mixed with Greek vibes, which together makes one strong woman. George is one of my favorite boy names and a lot of it has to do with the meaning "farmer, earthworker". A George or Georgia works hard to create something beautiful.
Jessa is cute. I was thinking last night about Jessamine or Jessamyn. I'd prefer Jessa as a nickname for one of those.

I like them. I prefer Georgia to Georgie. Georgia is funky and distinguished at the same time. Jessa sounds very interesting. I don't care for Jessica but this one makes a nice alternative. Lara is simple but pretty and Iris, although my least favourite of the four, is really nice, too. It sounds a bit dated but it makes me think of colours and pretty eyes :)

Lara - How are you pronouncing this? LOW-rah, LARR-ah, or LAIR-ah?
Iris - Fine. Not my style, but hip and trendy and cutesy.
Georgia nn Georgie - very sweet. I like Georgia. Though I think I'd use the nickname Geo - like JEE-oh
Jessa - okay, but nowhere near as nice as Tessa. How about Janessa nn Jessa?

Lara: I've heard people say that Lara Croft ruined this name, but I don't run with that. I think it's okay, not ruined. Not something I would use, but if I heard it on someone else I wouldn't bat an eye.
Iris: I like Iris because it's slithery and whip-thin, like a snake's tongue. It's a very different image/feel than what I get from most names.
Georgia, NN Georgie: I don't like Georgie, but Georgia is pretty. I would call her George.
Jessa: Very "Girls". Eh. It sounds unfinished to me.
