Gilbert fits the trend of grandparents/ great grandparents' names that are returning. I think it's a bit geeky, but that's me. Gil or Bert work better than Bertie. Bertie reminds me of King George VI. Johnny Depp played the title character in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and there was a Packer named Gilbert Brown for namesakes.
Julio- I think that in the US at least, Julio is too closely associated with Julio Iglesias. The image I have of a Julio is a romantic Latino singer trying to sweep someone off their feet.
