I have a son Alexander nn Alex (also sometimes Ax or Axel), so you would think I would prefer Alexandra. But the truth is I find it an extraordinarily masculine name, and I would no more name my daughter (a variant of) Alexander than I would Butch.
I think Amelia is very beautiful.
