Marisa or Marissa: Your Preferred Spelling
These two names have been baffling me as to why are there two spellings. So BtN, what spelling do you prefer and do you pronounce them the same?Talk to her, don't leave her behind
You shut her out for too longI guess I have found newer music that pleases me.

Love Marissa; but not so much Marisa. I don't like the latter pronunciation (but I bet there's Marisas
who pronounce it like Marissa and vice versa.)The spelling/sound of Marissa makes it the winner for me. One of my faves.

I intuitively say them Marisa rhyme Lisa, and Marissa rhyme Melissa, also ... but I have known a Marisa who pronounces her name mar-ISS-sah. So I feel like I should wait and find out how any Marisa pronounces her own name. That's annoying enough to make me prefer Marissa! But other than that, I like both names... I would like Marisa more if it were reliably pronounced mar-REES-sa.

I much prefer Marisa because I pronounce them differently. Marisa is the default with the long 'e' pronunciation (rhymes with Lisa). Marissa has the 'iss' sound (rhymes with Melissa and Elissa). It's okay; I just prefer Marisa.

I like Marisa best. The two ss's don't make it a better name. It's good as it is.

Usually I like extra letters when they are an option, but in this case, I prefer Marisa. I hate names that end in the "issa" sound anyway, because I find them cloyingly sappy and overly sweet, and I think that Marisa rather than Marissa alleviates the sappiness and sweetness a little.

I pronounce them the same, but prefer Marissa. Marissa just looks more complete to me.

I pronounce them differently. Marissa as muh-RISS-uh, Marisa as mah-REE-sah (like Maria with an S thrown in there). I prefer the name Marisa overall.

I've got to agree on all statements in this post.
