Jamie is my preferred nn for James or Jamison (both of which I love). I do think Jamie is a bit unsubstantial on its own though.
I wouldn't worry about "all the girl Jamie's". You could name your son Walter Thomas and yet he'd still probably run into Waltyr Tomys in his kindergarten class because some mom said, "Walter! How cute for a girl!"
Siblings might be classics with nn's with a twist:
Sarah nn Sadie
Tobias nn Toby
Katherine nn Kat
Wilhelmina nn Willa
