Re: WDYT of Alice?

Associations ...? Well, there's Wonderland of course. Robert Graves thought of Alice as the leading heroine of the nation! And I was at school with three Alice people, all cousins, though only one of them used Alice - the others went by mns or variants, to avoid confusion in the family I suppose, though there must have been a better way of getting that right. Nice girls, all of them. And I had a wonderful Alice cat for 19 years, full name Alice The Alley Cat, that being what she was. A bog-standard tabby, but spectacularly beautiful. Her litter sister, whom we also adopted, was Catherine Cat, nicknamed Katie the Kitty. Good little animals.
I'd willingly use Alice on a human - I prefer it to Alison, and I don't much like Alicia and Allison.
My go-to combo has always been Alice Emily, for a good vintage feel.
