Very old fashioned, don't think it works now. Nice enough name I guess. Prefer the nickname Prue, Prudy makes me think of Trudy :)

I love it. I just love Patience more and you couldn't have a Prudence and a Patience, well you could but it wouldn't be too good. I also have the same issue with my love of Constance, Charity, Chastity and Clemency lol. I like Prue and want to like Prudy ( I like the similar sound Trudy) but can't. Prue makes Prudence more user friendly imo

I kind of like it, though generally for a middle name.Prue is a very fun nickname. I could unfortunately see kids calling her Prude, :(

As a virtue it's not so bad - one of the definitions is 'wise in practical affairs', which I like. I don't mind the sound of it either, when I think of it like that. But yup, prude, not something you really want in a name.

Prudy is beneath abysmal.Prudence is better as a word than as a name. I once knew two sisters, Prudence and Susan, who were known as Prue and Sue. Enough to make anyone gasp. They were pleasant enough people - pretty tennis-playing blondes - but I'd have given their parents a Can Do Better.

It's very sanctimonious. Sounds like an admonishment. Retiring and reluctant. Worse than Modesty, about as bad as Patience. But it also has a sound I think is icky and sneering. Prew. Prood'ns. Yuck ... the only slight appeal is that the word sounds "smart." haha.

I adore Prudence. It is among my top names. Prudence Emily is my go-to combo.I like the nn Prue, I don't like Prudy at all. I have two very good friends with the name as well so I have positive associations.

I know a Prudence, she is 31 and goes by Prue. I really dislike the name though, I think it sounds awful.

Prudence is a name that was born in the Ugly Village. Prudie is so hideous it doesn't bear thinking about.

I like the name in general. It does remind me of the Beatles song, "Dear Prudence," which I know primarily from the film 'Across the Universe'. I like the character of Prudence in the film and the song is nice, so it's not a negative association.I'm not so keen on Prudy for a nickname, but Prue or Pru are nice. They do remind me of 'The Hunger Games' a bit - possibly because of 'Prim' being used as a nickname for Primrose (Katniss' younger sister). ("Prim and proper" is similar to "prudence"? Sort of vaguely anyway.) Again, it's not a negative association for me.

I love Prudence. I love that it's a rather ugly sound, but looks beautiful written out. Most people upon hearing it would be like "Eugh, Prudence?!" behind her back, but she'd know she has the coolest name on the block. The song and Farrow aside, I'm a fan of most virtue names. My love for Pleasance only surpasses Prudence.I'd go with Pru as a nickname (although I do work for an insurance company and Pru is what we call Prudential, but most people won't have that association).

I remember when Prudence was the name of the little girl on "Nanny and the Professor." I thought it was terrible then and I still do. It always makes me think of prunes. Sounds like something that makes your face pucker. And all of the nicknames make me think of the word "prude". What about a sibset Primrose, Priscilla, and Prudence, nn Prim, Prissy, and Prude? lol
