is the man who first climbed the mountain, and for whom it is named. So that pairing seems odd (but logical) to me, but I don't think that many people will make the connection. It was a surname before it was the highest mountain on earth, but either is a bit problematic, unless Everest is a family name. Everett or Everard?sa
