I grew up with a girl named Brook and after over a decade of knowing her, I still could not get used to the way her name felt when I said it. I try not to be so blunt/negative, but, honestly, it sounds like the sound my cat makes when she throws up. Sorry. And Amaya has such a lovely flowing sound to it, it seems a shame to cut it off with Brook.

I know what you mean. I only really like it because of the character, and the imagery. I felt Amaya kind of balanced it out, for me?
As for cat sick... My cat has never vomited, to my knowledge, so I wouldn't know. :) Her name is Skye, incidentally. I like Skye.
