Has anyone else noticed that the name Kevin seems to have a bad reputation outside of the US?

I can see where you're coming from in terms of sound, especially since it starts with a K sound, but at this point it's just stale. It would be interesting to see why it came into play so strongly in the 1950s or so. Anyway, I've always liked Kevin. I think it's solid, just overused and doesn't stand out much anymore.

Well, it's still in the top 100 (and has been since 1949!), so it's not really unpopular, per se. It's still used quite a bit. That being said, I don't foresee it marching up the ranks, even with the likes of Aidan and Mason high on the list. It's just been done before, so I don't think anyone could look at it as a trendy, popular name (as Aidan and Mason are). I think it will continue to be used with some regularity, but we'll need to wait a few month generations before it's ready for a surge.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Kevin. I also know a Kevin who is 3 so that's at least one. I'd like to see it make a bit of a comeback.

Kevin still feels a tad dated to me. I do believe eventually it will come back, but at the moment, it's strictly a dad name to me.

I have always hated Kevin. It makes me think of a nasty little kid.

It's a dad-name to me, and a boring one at that. I think it's lost its charm for current generations.

In the US, it's becoming less popular (though still in the top 100), because it has been very popular and almost all very popular names, barring a few male classics, lose popularity eventually. It could come back in the US eventually, but first it would have to lose popularity totally, and it hasn't even done that yet. In the UK, I don't know, the statistics here show it holding steady in the 100s but they don't go back very far.
