Re: WDYT of Amelia?

I personally love Amelia. It is classic and elegant, but not quite as common and old-sounding of some of the other names you mentioned.
Since I am French myself (I'm sure it's hard to tell from my name), I also love the name Amelie. I've been trying to think of a traditional French name for my own baby that doesn't sound horrible Americanized. This is one of my top picks along with Aurelie, and the French spelling of Violette. But anyway in regards to your question about which sounds better they're very different to me. Amelia is classic and elegant, while Amelie is still elegant, but has a different twist to it where is has that cultured sound to it (in a good way of course) and is a little more new sounding, almost like a name that would just have to be in fashion!
