Tingeling weirded me out. I thought Sweden's naming laws didn't let you name kids names associated with fictional characters. If the naming laws allow that, I'm wonder if they would allow parents to name kids Mumintrollet or Snusmumriken.

Yes, you can name your child after fictional characters, as long as it's not something that is considered to be a horrible burden for the child. For example, the character Beetle Bailey is called Knasen in Swedish, which literally means something like "goofy person", and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed. But Tarzan, Bilbo, Caspian and Anakin are all OK.
