Daichi: Dah-ee-chee

update!Ok, Yumi is officially crossed off. It came to my realization that it just doesn't go a well with the surname or roll off the tongue. Someone had mentioned that it sounds like "you me" as in the English words or someone saying "yummy" in a strange wayI'm definitely going with Yuna (Sero & Yuna) not sure to give her another sister. Hmm. Perhaps 1 sister and 1 brother or 2 sisters and 1 brother. Still ponderingAt leas I got one down! (:

What about Kyo for a boy? Or Hatori?

With regards to HatoriIt's used as a surname 99.999% of the time. Looking at www.namaejiten.com and www.douseidoumei.net, I've found none with the name 'Hatori' on the 1st site. On the 2nd site though, I've found one with 生鳥 (生 being ha, from 'ha.eru' or 'ha.yasu') but the question would be if that person was named Hatori or not.Other than that, I've only seen this name mentioned as an idea/suggestion (see http://5go.biz/fbo/read/2/5704 - in Japanese).

I think it's best to look at the names that real Japanese people have. On Wikipedia there's loads of famous Japanese people. As an anime fan, I can tell you that a lot of the names that appear in anime and manga are names that aren't encountered very often in real life. Some are believable on real people (like Sakura) and some sound flat-out ridiculous on real people (like Usagi).

To be honest, Wikipedia has a fraction of names that real Japanese people have compared to douseidoumei.net. After all, douseidoumei.net seems reliable enough as a source for me to use it (the names section contains 428,819 entries, so it's kind of an overview of how popular a name, for all ages, was). You might even encounter kanji combinations that you don't see in a dictionary (or, less often, Wikipedia - English or Japanese).Anyway, Usagi is not as ridiculous, to me, as, say, Adamu with the kanji 男 that has sounds that are not pronounced like Adamu (I'm not sure if you're aware that that is a DQN name) or Pikachu with the kanji 光宙. And yeah, that's not all. Check out http://dqname.jp/ (in Japanese, but I'm sure you can read it) and you will see the many DQN names that I want to see it disappear.

I don't speak Japanese (at all lol) and the other link you send me was unavailable. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.Yuna is definitely being used. Sero & Yuna. Unsure about giving her another sibling or what gender they should be.
Daichi sounds pretty cool though (:Hatori, from my expirence upon searching japanese names, they don't pronounce the R? So I'm trying to advoid most if not all jap names containing that letter. I'll keep mispronouncing Hatori. Its not a name I care for anyway-at least not with these characters. Just doesn't stand out to me

Kyo was originally on the list but I eliminated it. I thought it was pronounced as ky-O which sounds really cool. Apparetly, its More like kee-O which I rather don't care for. And since Sero's name ends in an O, I figured for her sibling names to have an alternative ending

Is Sero a name you just thought up? Because when I looked around on jisho.org, I couldn't find any kanji combos for Sero, only Serona. In regards to which names pair up best with Sero, my top picks are Miyu (実優 - reality/truth, actor/excel/gentleness) & Sōta (創太 - genesis/originate, big around/plump/thick).May I suggest a couple of suggestions for your main character, her siblings & her father:
Main character:
Kanade [奏 - complete/play music] (ka-na-de)
Narumi [也美 - to be, beautiful] (na-ṙuy-mee/na-luy-mee)
Nene [寧々 - preferably/rather, 々 is a kanji repeater] (ne-ne)
Hazuki/Hadzuki [葉月 - leaf/plane/spear, month/moon - traditional name for August] (ha-dzuy-kee/ha-zuy-kee)Siblings:
Chiharu [千春 - thousand, spring (season)] (chee-ha-ṙuy/chee-ha-luy)
Himawari [向日葵 - approach/beyond/defy, day/sun, hollyhock - word for 'sunflower'] (hee-ma-wa-ṙee, hee-ma-wa-lee)
Misuzu [三鈴 - three, buzzer/small bell] (mee-suy-dzuy/mee-suy-zuy)Shin'nosuke [慎之介 - be careful/humility, of/this, jammed in/mediate] (sheen-no-ske)
Masakazu [正和 - correct/justice/righteous, harmony/peace/soften] (ma-sa-ka-dzuy/ma-sa-ka-zuy)
Tetsurō [哲朗 - clear/philosophy, bright/cheerful/clear] (te-tsuy-ṙo:/te-tsuy-lo:)Father:
Hideshi [秀士 - beauty/excel/surpass, gentleman/samurai] (hee-de-shee)
Manabu [学 - learning, science, study] (ma-na-buy)
Naoki [尚樹 - esteem/furthermore, wood] (na-o-kee)
Tsutomu [勤 - diligence, serve] (tsto-muy/tsuy-to-muy)--All of the pronunciations that I've put up were used from the BtN pronunciation guide--By the way, is her mother involved in the story in any way? I have some names for her mother that I can share with you.

Honestly thought it was a name I proudly invented but turns out its an actually name. An incredibly rare name at that. Here is what themeaningofthename.com says about it "The name Sero is ranked on the 54,721st position of the most used names. It means that this name is rarely used." They estimate that only 2,700 people inthe word has the nameSero's name has been set in stone. She isn't the main character but is a major characterI update this later. My tablets pmsing uhg!lol
