It's used now and then where I live, though the "H" is not pronounced. So, Ugo. Same with Huguette-Uguette. Huguette is an old-lady name, though, but there's some child Hugos around.

It's one of those names I've always hated for no reason at all. Ditto Rory.

I love Hugo! It's a well travelled name that many will recognize. It also is a very handsome name and does not sound harsh.

It's super medieval to me, so... I like. :)I think Hugo is just a bump up from Hugh, which I also like. I think Hugh is easier for most people though.

It's cute. I used to have a classmate named Hugo, av very handsome and nice person.

It's puffy and Euro and fey-jockish, like Luca or Fabian or Tristram or Pierre.
NMS - could get used to it if I knew one, and think it was more real and less charactery, but I would never like it. It's mostly the feeling of making the HEW sound, that I don't like.

I love Hugo! Especially after watching the film. One of the few boys' names on my list with an awesome meaning, and I'd actually imagine an intelligent, creative boy being called Hugo. Part of me really likes that there's "hug" in there too. I also happen to love it with my fave girls' name, Lyra, although it's out of bounds since one of the only girls' names I like with Lyra is Clio.

Y'know, I've been so caught up in worrying about "huge" that I never even noticed "hug." That is downright adorable and I feel like I'm getting an epiphany here. Wow.

It's alright, better than Hugh.

I like it a lot and would gladly use it; with the proviso that there was (it's died, unfortunately) a tradition in DH's family of naming a son H-name-plus-Daniel and using Daniel as if it were the fn. And I'd gladly have a Daniel son as well, so yeah, I'd use it but not use it.Where I live, there's a language community that can't hear the difference between Hugh and you. As in: once I'd heard a piece of office gossip from a colleague named Hugh. I mentioned this to someone else, who said "How did you know?" "Hugh told me", I said, and she said "No, I didn't!" This makes Hugo a sensible choice, though I quite like Hugh as well.

It's fine, but maybe a little storybookish. I've never known one in real life. I remember Hurricane Hugo from when I was little. I think I do prefer Hugo to Hugh.

It's classic, sounds friendly and I've only ever met nice Hugos, so my impression of it is good. Totally usable - unless you've got some kind of directional last name :)

Hugo North.

Nah, Hugo Wright!

I really like it. It's short and simple, classy, sounds good and isn't overused.

I'm really liking Hugo more and more, it's even made it into my top 10! I think it's spunky and different without being out-there, it even still has a classic feel to it. =)

not my favorite but not BAD. Maybe like Hugh better? I go back & forth on that one. -

So weird. I am watching House Hunters International on Netflix and there is Hugo Sr., Hugo Jr., and Hugo Elliott.I don't really like it. I see huge and it just sounds heavy, so that's a bad combination in my opinion. You want a name that doesn't feel insubstantial, but this feels weighty in a tiresome way. Not sure if that makes sense. That said I would be pleased to meet a little Hugo and perhaps a child could bring a lightness to the name and turn my opinion upside down.

I used to greatly dislike this name. I thought it was an ugly name, and unimaginable on a child; I could only imagine balding, unsanitary, middle-aged men with this name. I also worried about the prospects of a child named Hugo being overweight and thus labeled as "Huge-o."Then I saw the movie Hugo, and while it wasn't my favorite film by any means, it did make me warm up to the name Hugo. I could actually imagine it on a child! Now I can at least appreciate the appeal it has for some, and can even admit it's kind of cute. It's still not a favorite, but it's okay.

Hugo has been one of my favourite names for over ten years. I've been told it would be a terrible fate to inflict upon a child, but I don't see how it's so awful.

I love it. It's the name of my car, a MINI Cooper.

At first I didn't like it at all, but for some time now I have been quite fond of it. It does tend to fit in with a lot of the boy names I favour, so it's no surprise that I like it really. I am also quite fond of the meaning of Hugo too.

I really like the name Hugo, its a lovely name. There is a book called Hugo Cabret with the main boy called Hugo, that is one of the reasons that I became interested in the name.
