My sister once dated a guy who was from Holland and he was named Roland. He pronounced Roland to rhyme with Holland so we called him Roland From Holland. Except once when I, by accident, said Roland as to rhyme with Poland so I ended up calling him Roland From Poland instead. Anyway, I guess because of that, it's seemed really "Europe-y" to me, not American enough for red-blooded American me.
