Re: Bethany
in reply to a message by Indy
I love Bethany! I feel the same way about it. It's definitely an upbeat, bright, friendly name. The only negative I could think is that it may seem dated. The only Bethanys I know were born in the early-mid 80s, and I know at least 5 of them. All nice Bethanys. :) I don't understand the tacky reception of it at all. I'd use it in real life, but my husband had vetoed it a long time ago.I also really love Bethan, if that is another option for you to consider.

Bethan is really nice too, really similar to Bethany, but more... understated I guess? Which makes it fit in better with most of the other names I like. Thanks!

How do you pronounce Bethan? Is it Beth-ann? Or Beth'n?
I haven't known anyone so-named, so please forgive the ignorance!I haven't known any Bethanys, either, it's a nice name.
My favourite cousin is Beth (Elizabeth really, but never called that.)

Beth'n :)I'd use it for a nickname if I ever had an Elizabeth. I think Beth anything is the cutest ever.

I have a close friend named Bethan, and it's like Beth'n. 'bɛθən , if the IPA is any use to you (:
