Re: Susannah

I like all the Sue names, but Susannah and Suzette top the list. Then Suzanne, and finally Susan itself, in spite of Death's remarkable granddaughter.
Susan was way too popular, and there are still too many of them around. Suzanne is pretty but, in general, I don't like spondees. Suzette has a lot of positive energy and cheerfulness. Susannah (a family name on DH;s side) has a long, long history and still retains its charm; all the Sue, Susie and Zan nns are OK though I do prefer the full form.
I once invented Susianne as a GP, and actually I think it could work IRL - Marianne does!
One of the worst things I've ever seen, names-wise, is Suseth, pronounced Suzette and a merger between Susan and Elizabeth (with the Afrikaans-Dutch-German pronunciation).
