I don't find it pretentious, but I really don't like it. British currency just doesn't attract me as a name (Euro? Deutschmark? Dollar?) and nor does the name for high-purity silver. Cold, hard and commercial.

I'm not generally fond of geographical names, but Stirling sounds exactly like Sterling and is at least a pretty town in beautiful countryside.
