Wyatt
I have seen the name Wyatt on a few baby name sites and it really looks so very displeasing to me. How on earth is it pronounced???

Personally, I've never heard the "a" in Wyatt pronounced as a short "a", like the word "at". I've only ever heard Wyatt pronounced with stress on the first syllable and with a neutral vowel sound in the last, closer to "uh", which is sometimes represented with an upside down "e", as in the BtN pronunciation for Elliott, "EL-ee-ət". I like the name.

Just like you would say the english words "why" and "at" - why-at. I like the name though, but I personally find double letters appealing.

Like WHY-it, or WHY-ut.Back in, I think, the 1950s there was a Wild West series on TV about a sheriff named Wyatt Earp. (I think he was a sheriff, but I haven't checked.) Anyway, a relative of mine, long dead, was famous in the family for rushing home, skidding through the front door, hurling coat and hat onto their hooks and collapsing into her chair just as the theme music started. A very addicted lady. She had a son, and luckily for him she named him Rodney. I agree, it doesn't look or sound particularly pleasing to me either. But it's just another surname promoted to given-name status; I'm sure the cowboy is long forgotten.

It's pronounced "WIE-ət"
I'm not a big fan, either. I prefer the Wyeth spelling, but not as a creative alternative to Wyatt. I know how Wyatt is pronounced, but I still want to say "why at" when it's spelled this way.

I do the same thing. I also think it's too close to "quiet".Wyeth really is a nice alternative!
