Matija is pronounced 'MAH-tee-yah', you can hear it here - http://www.forvo.com/search/Matija/hr/.
Marko is so handsome. Love, love Marko. All of the names listed in the Croatian section are great. Dad Ivica is intriguing me. Is it pronounced "ee-VEET-suh" (or similar)? Is there a variant that I might have heard of before or is it a name that exists only in Croatian?
As for the Brits, Maximilian always wins me over. Max too. The are so impossibly grand. Milo is romantic sounding. As for the UK combos I'm most impressed with the parents of little Milo George William and Milo Guy Thomas. And I'm going to steal the surname Bridgstock somehow. :0)

I don't think there's a similar form in other languages, just in ex-Yugoslavia countries, it's Ivan + -ica (the diminutive suffix).
