Gerda
I've been in love with this name ever since I read The Snow Queen when I was twelve. What do you think of it? What would you pair with it?

I just saw a play of The Snow Queen this afternoon and I was thinking about the name Gerda too.
I don't like it. In my accent it sounds exactly like the word "girder" as in a beam for building houses.

Never heard of it, Can you tell me more about it?
Hmm, not very fond of it with that hard G it gets in other languages. In Swedish it's YAIRD-a, which I like better. :)
Gerda Elise, Gerda Josephine and Gerda Louise popped into my head. Maybe it needs some French elegance to counter the Germanic severity.

It reminds me of GERD, I'm afraid. I don't care for it.
I think it needs a middle name that lightens and brightens it. Gerda Violet? Gerda Emily?

Sounds like the name of a barbarian lady. I am going to have to pass.
Honestly, all I can think of is gurning and girdles, and the sound is too gulp-y for me to ever be fond of it, I think. Sorry.
Gerda Emmeline, maybe? Gerda June?

My mother and stepfather both have trouble with reflux/heartburn. Their diagnosis is gastrointestinal esophageal reflux disease, commonly abbreviated as GERD. This is what Gerda reminds me of, when it doesn't call to mind a beefy blonde German dominatrix in stiletto boots up to her hips and not very much else, waving a whip around and giving commands in German.
