I usually say Clair-uh vs klar-uh.... though I love both pronunciations. It's just slightly pompous in my small town to use the clar-uh pronunciation.
I named my daughter Clarisse (afetr her great-g-ma Clara). We say clair-eese vs klar-eese.
Cara is not aweful - it's just dull compared to Clara.
