Silvia
Recently I started to appreciate the name Silvia.
What are your thoughts? Would you be surprised to see this name used on a little girl?° We are but older children dear, who fret to find our bedtime near ° Lewis Carroll

Sylvia, with the Y spelling, is one of my favorite names. I think it's unexpected, vintage, very feminine. A tad glamorous. Also reminds me of silver and forests, which are nice images. I also like Silvia (I actually first liked this name in the Silvia form) and it is more streamlined and cleaner than Sylvia. However, right now I prefer the classic look of Sylvia. If I met a little girl with this name I would be thrilled, and a little surprised, yes. I would use it myself.

I know a 3-yr-old with this name and I love it on her. That's made me appreciate the name =)

I adore Silvia! The ties to sylvan splendor and Rhea Silvia delight me to no end.

I love this name, not only because it is my mother's name (she does spell it this way), but I also love the meaning and sound of the name. I do know a few little girls with this name and think that it is such a classy name that deserves more recognition. I will say that I never knew that Silvia was spelt any other way until I got to high school, but that's just because all the Silvias' I knew spelt their names with an 'i' rather than a 'y'.

I've had a fondness for Sylvia for awhile. I also prefer the spelling Sylvia. I'd be surprised but happy to see it on a little girl. I've only known one Sylvia and she's in her 50s. I think Sylvie is a cute nickname too.

I think Silvia is a nice name. It reminds me of a co-worker of mine (although she spells it Szilvia) who is a very likable person. But yes, I would be kind of surprised to see it on a little girl.
