I like Charlotte, but it isn't a particularly interesting name. There is no glitter in it, it's just there . I can't put my finger on why I feel that way, I just do.
It seems sort of generic now. Not really first name material but it's a sweet middle name.
I really like Charlotte.
I don't like it. It was really popular in my age group at school and most of the Charlottes I knew were kind of 'prissy' and annoying, 'teacher's pet' types. I still have that kind of association with the name.
Charlotte is a name that is on my serious consideration list
I don't get the dowdy image that a lot of others seem to have, maybe because I grew up with a lot of Charlotte's.
The only thing that makes me doubt using it is the nickname Charley, although I don't dislike it as much as I used to.
I've liked Charlotte since reading The Little Princess as a child, as one of the chapters was called Lottie, and I love Lottie, it has Victorian charm for me, kind of like Ottilie, Octavia and Matilda.
Yes I love Charlotte :)

I'm not particularly fond of it, but I'm not fond of the name Charles either. Nicknames can sometimes save a name for me, but I don't like any of the common nickname possibilities.
It also reminds me of Iron Maiden's song about Charlotte. Not the association I'd want to have.

I like it. It's one of my favorite names. I didn't use it for my daughter because it sounded a little bit cold to me. But I like it on other people's kids.
I wonder if maybe people just started to think that everyone else likes it, so they are more likely to find reasons to dislike it because they don't like to feel like they are following the crowd. It has been well-liked by most people here, for most of the past ten years.

I don't like Charlotte. It just has a displeasing sound to me.
I like Charlotte. One of my favs
How can anyone not like Charlotte? It's my middle name and I have met many a lovely Charlotte, so I am biased, I admit. But I think it's wonderful. It fits basically anyone, it's classic and modern at the same time and it has great nicknames (Charlie, Charli, Lottie, Lotta, Chaz). I love it!
I was under the impression BTNers liked it a lot. I find it boring for that reason.
I think Charlotte is a lovely name, but I wouldn't use it as it's too popular.
I used to dislike it when I was younger because it just sounded dowdy and old to me. I have definitely grown to appreciate it and it's now on my list of middle names since it honors my dad.
I really hate Charlotte because it has such a dowdy image to me. All I can think of is a dowdy mousy-brown-frizzy-haired, short woman with thick glasses and no love life. But whenever an OP such as this one is made about it, it seems that I'm the only one here who hates it, though that may be explained by a reluctance on the part of some people to bash names. I have no such reluctance.
Ditto
I've always hated the name Charlotte. I get a similar image. I just don't find it an appealing name at all. It's so bulky.

Really? That's surprising. Charlotte is just the sort of feminine classic that pretty much drives this place. Maybe it's the fact that Charlotte is rising in popularity so quickly, or at least it seems to be. Personally, popularity doesn't usually turn me off if I otherwise love a name. Charlotte is A-OK / fine by me.
P.S. I enjoyed your Sojourner thread below immensely. :0)
