On the whole, I'd go for the more off-centre Betsan.

I like it. It's a nice name & makes a pleasant change from Bethany, which I also like.

It feels slightly dated to me. I think it was quite popular where I live in the late 80s/90s because I went to school with several Bethans.

However, it's still a sweet enough name and I like the nickname Betty for it.

I considered this seriously for a time, but it does look and sound incomplete compared to other names today.

I love the way it looks, but I found that people always wanted to lengthen it to Bethanne when they said it. That said, it would only take a correction to fix people's pronunciation.

Something about Bethan leaves me cold. It seems like a product word - no soul, empty, not a name. It doesn't summon up anything in my mind, which is weird, and probably why it turns me off. Maybe if I saw it in a really nice combo, I'd warm to it? But I don't even know how to combo it because I don't know how to categorize it, give it feeling. THIS IS TROUBLING.
