I like them. There is a little girl named Barbara at my church, and at first I was like wtf but then I got used to it. :)

I think they are due a comback...... especially using Barbi, Babs, Trish, Trixie and Cia as nicknames.
The traditional Barb and Patti would seem a bit too out-dated even for the most hip retro-chic parent.

Patricia is pretty classic, but Barbara is kinda musty.

Well, yes both are dated. There's no getting around that. But there may be people out there who either don't mind a dated name, or would actually rather use one than a name that isn't dated. So their being dated is a fact, but whether or not that's a negative is a matter of opinion.Datedness aside, I dislike Barbara. It sounds very harsh to me. I don't like how it looks, either, the syllable "bar" repeated twice. I like Patricia, though. It really is soft and pretty. It was wildly popular at one point, and for a long time, so there are a lot of Patricias out there. But I can see why it was so popular. I don't like some of the nickname options for Patricia, but I do like Tricia and Trish.

I don't like Barbara, never have, it just doesn't sound attractive. I do think Patricia is pretty, and Pat is kind of a cute nn, but not Patsy, Patty, or Trish. Tricia is okay but I'd rather just use it by itself.
