I love it! An old boss of mine joked about opening a retro diner where all the waitress could choose a fake name to go with the theme. I always thought I'd pick Gladys because the "-adys" part resembled my own name is look and sound. I think it's really sweet.. I mean "glad" is right there up front :)

I like it too! It's quirky and personably curmudgeonous. It's loud and courageously brash. Also it's a lovely purple and yellow colour for me.

I can't say I really like it, but as old-lady names go it does have a touch of glamour to it.

Good for you for loving it. It would be so cool if it were to make a comeback. To me, it's funny to think about---certain names that are so universally disliked, yet at one point a great many people were seeing something appealing about them. Gladys pretty much zoomed out of nowhere right around 1900 and took the baby-naming world by storm. I had a great-aunt named Gladys, born in 1902, as I know I've mentioned before. Funny to think that she was given a name which was the 1902 equivalent of Olivia, Isabella, Charlotte today.
Lots of talk about Irene lately, which puts me in mind of Gladys Irene.

This was my Grandmother's name, but sadly I do not know what her middle name was.
