Wow! I once knew the sister of a Lyneve - she'll be about 70 by now, I suppose. They thought of it as Evelyn reversed, in the same way as Rosemary and Maryrose can be mirror-image names. I'm sure they didn't know it was in use in the Middle Ages, any more than I did. Is any more known about its medieval incarnation? This is fascinating!
