Irish girls names
Here are some I've come across and liked. I've included the anglicised versions.Ailbhe = Alva -> Elva
Aran
Eithne = Enya
Laoise = Leesha
Máire = Moira
Muireann (prn. MUR in)
Órfhlaith = Órlaith = Orla
Saibh = Sabd (prn. SIVE)
Saoirse (prn. SEER sha or SAIR sha)
Síofra (prn. SHEE fruh)Like any? Do you prefer the original spellings?
What are some of your favourite Irish names?

I've loved Saoirse for a while, and I'm glad you posted because I like Eithne and Saibh too. I think I'd stick with the original spellings since they look lovely written out and beside Eithne, the phonetic spellings would be pretty terrible, ex. Seersha :/

I like Aran, and the Elva form of Ailbhe. Eithne is cool. I like both Máire and Moira. Órlaith is cool, but I'd only use it as a middle name.My favorites are Sinéad, Siobhan, Áine Aislin, Alannah, Aoife, Brígh, Catríonna, Niamh, and Caoimhe.

I like Saoirse.

I've loved Siofra for a long time! It seems so mythical yet simple. Saoirse I first heard on the actress Saoirse Ronan. She played Susie Salmon in The Lovely Bones and was also in The Host and, I believe, City of Ember. The rest are pretty and DEFINITELY unique, but for most I prefer the angelicized versions.

I love the sounds of heaps of Irish names :D
One of our twins will be Maeve, and Enya is at the very top of my favourites list! Saoirse (seer-sha) Niamh (neev) and Aislinn (ash-ling) are also huge favourites of mine!! The thing about spelling though. If you understand Irish the spellings aren't weird or crazy at all. The 'extra' vowels tell you how to pronounce the consonants and that kind of thing.
BUT unless you're in Ireland most people just aren't gonna know. So the wise thing to do is to use an Englified spelling. Like if you're Japanese you're not gonna write your name in kanji and expect English people to understand it!!

Not a fan of Geltic spelled names. They look nothing how they are supost to be pronounced which would lead to a ton of confusion. So I would spare my child the stress
Sheer sha or sair sha is good.
