I was hoping Dawson's Creek was long enough ago it was no longer an issue. Ah well. Thanks for all the input.
I never watched Dawson's Creek, so you'll get an unbiased opinion from me.
Pacey is cool, it's very "modern young country western star", adorably rugged and outdoorsy - and the type of name I have a secret fondness for. I did immediately think it was a boy's name, but that's not bad. It goes with the "pretty tomboy who looks great in a summer dress and can drink any man under the table" vibe. It's like Grace and Casey and Paisley all mushed together. PLUS it's one letter away from "spacey". Makes my day.
I prefer it out front than in the middle.
I'd combo it like...
Pacey Amelia
Pacey Claire
Pacey Loretta
Pacey Anna
Pacey Louise
Pacey Jane, Pacey Jean, Pacey Johanna, Pacey Joanne
Pacey Rose - I actually quite like "filler" names with it: Pacey Ann, Pacey Lou, Pacey Lee.
Pacey Matilda? This is so ugly I'm loving it
Pacey Frances awww ugly city this is wonderfulllll. Pacey Rose Frances is really speaking to me.
I seem to love pairing it with old fashioned cutesy country sort of names. I'd avoid pairing it with any names that are similarly trendy-beautiful or surnamey sounding, because then it just ruins the charm of Pacey's artless honesty.

Thank you ma'am! I always love reading your descriptions and combos :D
very Dawson's Creek
In fact, that's really the only reason anybody even thinks of it as a name, first or last.

It sounds very trendy. As such, I'm apt to not like it. However, in addition it just sounds bad. Like Pace Picante or like a toddler trying to say "spicy." I don't like it all around.
Same +eta
But I marathoned Dawson's Creek in February.
Don't pair it with Josephine.
eta: I did think Pacey was probably the most likable character on the show. In fact I'm very surprised it didn't get a little bit of use. Dawson got a little boost from the show and he was the worst.
