I like Lonnie for a girl, and I'd have to spell it Lonnie. I've also seen a name of similar sound spelled Lani.

I think Lani is cute for a girl, like maybe on its own or short for Leilani.
But Lonnie on a boy is very redneck.

I really like Lonnie. If I were to use it, it'd probably be as a nickname for Leonidas, but it doesn't really need a full form; it's just my preference. It definitely doesn't sound feminine to me, any more than Lenny does. I prefer the Lonnie spelling, especially if you were to use it as a stand-alone; looks more like a full name to me.
