I know a girl named Ilia, and I quite like the name. The IL is a little tough, but it's very pretty. I prefer the I spelling.

To me, both are entirely masculine which works out great if you are a man but otherwise doesn't work.

I would naturally pronounce it ill-ee-ah, but apparently it's pronounced eel-YAH, so that's a bit of a hurdle to get over for my personally, haha.

I think I prefer the Ilya as there's not so many tall letters, so it's easier to read.

Well... Ilya is a boy's name, but I guess I could see it on a girl. It's got the -ya ending that would help it seem more girl-ish.
Problems might happen if an Ilya when to a French-speaking country because il y a means 'there is/are..'

I love Ilya, on a boy. I grew up watching tennis and Ilya Nastase was always fun to watch. Ilya struck an early name nerd instinct in me when I learned it was the Russian form of Elijah. The neurotransmitters went into overdrive and I was fascinated. Besides, Ilya is just so much fun to say out loud. Ilya Constantine is my stock combo for it.
