My impression is that it sounds cutely, theatrically butch. That's part of the image of most surname names to me, Cody being one of the defining names of the whole trend.
I mean, it's not really bad, it doesn't give me a really "bad" impression. But my image of Cody is not a grown, urban, sober, modest, college educated, conformist man who securely possesses any of what's usually considered social status in urban life. It just sounds sort of stylized and "fancy" to me; it has an image that glorifies and overstates a playful, boyish, tough, vain masculinity (reminiscent of, say, a country-western singer).
Just one perspective. I hope it makes sense.
