Yeah it's just a nickname for Sarah.

It is a nickname for Sarah. These days, many people are putting Sadie on the birth certificate, but that doesn't make it a full name, any more than someone putting Billy or Suzie on a birth certificate would make either of those a full name. It's still a nickname.

It's a form of Sarah, though also a full name in it's own right. I love the name Sadie.

It's a pet form of Sarah, but it doesn't have to stand for anything. It can be a name on its own.

It's not really "short" for anything. It's traditionally a nn for Sara or Sarah, but it obviously is the same length or longer, and it's quite often been given just by itself, even in the old days.
