I like it, it's a GP for me along with a lot of other dated names. I think it has a pretty sound.

I think its dated. I put it in the same category as Tiffany and Stephanie.

Besides, all I think about now is Michelle Duggar.

There was a girl I went to school with named Michelle that bullied me. So yeah...
Plus I feel that it is too dated.

I like it. I guess. I had a best friend in sixth grade named Michelle, and there were tons of Michelles in school. About as many as Nicoles. Born in the early 70s. I think it grew up really gracefully (much more so than its peers Lisa, Kimberly, and Stacy). I lost interest in it when I became too familiar with the fact that it's a form of Michael. And also about ten years ago, I ran across a young Micheline (born around 1980?) and started to feel that Michelle really must be getting dated. But it's still a nice name, and I guess it's one of the only two syllable names I like that does not have stress on the first syllable.

I get the idea that -elle names have lost some of their cache.

Perhaps I am in denial, because I have an -elle name (I am a Danielle), and one of my best friends growing up was named Michelle. (I was born in 1979, and she in 1980.) I always liked my name, and my friend's as well. They seemed solid and pretty, but not flashy. The wore well.

Michelle is not on our name list, but we have considered Marcelle.

I once thought it was very pretty, but that was long ago. Now Michelle doesn't hold much excitement for me. It's still pretty but that's about it.

I like it more as a middle name than a first name, but that's mainly because it just seems to sound more euphonious in the middle name slots with so many first names.
It's somehwat out of style right now but you still can't be sure on hearing the name how old your Michelle is, or what race she is. Everybody knows how to say it and it isn't that hard to spell; there is Michele but it's not like there's a dozen variations floating around.

In my youth, because of Michelle Tanner, I wanted to be named Michelle so badly. I just thought it was the prettiest name. I still think it has a pretty sound, but I associate it with... well, Full House, big hair, stone-washed jeans. It's just badly dated, and dated to a time with such unattractive fashion and music (imo). I like other dated names from that time period more, like Stephanie, Lauren, and Megan.

One of my very oldest friends is a Michele, and so is another friend (who is French), so I prefer that spelling. I probably would anyway - less fussy-looking.

Michelle was very popular here in South Africa in the 1970s I think, and - like Lauren and Lisa - there were just too many of them at once. I blame the Beatles. So, I suppose I find it dated and not as brisk and efficient-looking as Michele!

I knew twins once - Michael and Michelle. That was a bad idea. Nothing wrong with the names, but they're better apart than together.
